Coast Trip

Coast Trip

Hey everyone!

The next mountaineering trip will be on the 20-21st of March. We'll be heading down to the south coast, near Swanage, for some top-quality sea cliff climbing! There will also be the opportunity to go to nearby Portland to do some sport climbing, depending on demand.
The trip is going to be climbing-only, and because of the sort of climbing we'll be doing, we're making it a small trip for those of you who are already comfortable with either leading or seconding trad climbing and who want to try something more advanced. As such, this trip will only be suitable for people have been climbing outdoors at least a few times before. If you're not sure if this is you, send me an email and we'll see.

As Swanage is only a couple of hours away, we'll be leaving early Saturday morning - probably around 7-8ish - to maximise climbing time! We'll then spend Saturday night in a campsite near to Swanage; and we could either go to a nearby pub for dinner or do a barbeque at the campsite if the weather's nice enough. You'll need to bring lunch for Saturday and Sunday, and breakfast for Sunday.
Don't worry if you don't have a tent: we will be able to hire them from the SA for free, though let me know beforehand if you'll need one. The cost for this trip is a bargain price of 25, which covers transport and camping fees.

The sign-up sheet will go up in the finance office at 11:15 on Thursday. There are a very limited number of places available, so if you're interested, make sure you get there quick!

Hope to see you there!

Hey,

Just to remind you about the coast trip happening next weekend.

We'll now be heading to the Gower peninsula near Swansea due to unfavourable tidal conditions making climbing in Swanage next weekend less than ideal. The climbing will be similar, being mostly sea cliffs. As such, this trip will still be aimed at the more experienced among you: if you've been out climbing at least a few times and are confident on the rock, but want to try something different, this should be a good time to do so.

We're going to be leaving Bath early on Saturday morning (think 7-8ish) for a full day's climbing; before getting dinner at either a local pub or doing our own on a barbeque at the campsite, depending on conditions and what people prefer. On saturday night we'll be staying at a campsite close to the crags - don't worry if you don't have a tent, we'll be hiring some from the SU to take with us; though you will obviously need a sleeping bag and ideally a rollmat/thermarest type thing, along with plenty of warm clothing.

The trip will cost 25 and to sign up, go to the finance office as usual, but hurry as spaces are limited!

If you have any questions, ask away!
