The following is a list of recommended kit for weekend trips. It's not completely universal, but it you bring everything listed here you should be well equipped for any of the trips the club runs. Not all kit needs to be expensive or high-tech. You will probably be able to find some suitable walking trousers in any of Bath's charity shops, and waterproofs, hats and gloves can often be found at relatively cheaply from big sports shops. Feel free to ask any committee member for advice about kit, although you'll probably regret it when you can't get them to shut up again!

Food

  • Breakfast and packed lunch for Saturday and Sunday (bring more than you think you need!)
  • Food (cooking hobs available) for Saturday evening (drinks optional)
  • Extra high energy food for emergency rations (e.g. chocolate!)
  • We will stop at a services/take-away on route Friday and Sunday evenings

General

  • Sleeping bag + overnight things
  • Warm clothes (inc. gloves, hat, a windproof layer etc)
  • NOT jeans! (for the daytime activities)
  • Waterproofs
  • Complete change of clothes
  • Good walking boots or approach shoes (strong soled trainers)
  • Water bottle
  • Torch
  • Personal first aid kit (personal medication, plasters, painkillers etc)
  • Compass if you have one

Climbing

All items of climbing equipment can be borrowed from the gear store if you don't have them

  • Harness
  • Belay
  • Helmet
  • Rock shoes
  • If you’re a leader and have rack and ropes bring those too!
